On Saturday 13th September, the Oil Salvage team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Beginning in Horton-in-Ribblesdale shortly after 6am, our 11-strong team battled through a day of ever-changing weather conditions to reach the summits of Yorkshire’s three highest peaks, Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.
Undeterred by the wind and rain, we reached our first summit at 8am, our next at 1:30pm, and our last at 4:20pm, before returning to Horton-in-Ribblesdale and completing the 24-mile hike in 11 hours and 50 minutes, beating the target time of 12 hours that most aim to complete the challenge in.
We’re delighted to say that our fundraiser has since raised £2,005 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which rounds off an incredible few years of charity work that has taken our team to Wales, Scotland, and England’s highest points in 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively.
We’d like to give a massive thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraiser, every penny raised ensures that Alder Hey can remain at the forefront of research and technology, making sure that the thousands of children they look after every year can get the best possible care. You can read more about how your donations help Alder Hey on their website.
Finally, we’d like to extend a massive congratulations to all those who took part in the challenge; the hard work and determination shown was for a truly great cause!
We’re already planning what comes next year for our charity fundraiser, so keep an eye out on our social media pages to see how you get involved…
